In 2021 maak ik onderdeel uit van het Natural Contract Lab, een internationaal artistiek onderzoekscollectief.

Hoe kunnen artistieke praktijken een ecologie van herstel terugvorderen, en creatief protocollen ontwerpen met een regeneratieve benadering van het verlies van landschappen? Hebben we andere manieren van gerechtigheid, milieuwetgeving en herstelacties nodig? Wat voor soort artistieke processen hebben we nodig als een gebaar van zorg voor het planetaire? Hoe kunnen transdisciplinaire allianties een antwoord op ecocide inspireren?

Maak kennis met het onderzoekscollectief: BODY OF REPAIR: Maria Lucia Cruz Correia (kunstenaar, de initiatiefnemer van het project), Marine Calmet (milieurecht), Prof. Brunilda Pali (restorative rechstpraak), Evanne Nowak (klimaatrouw), Lode Vranken (architectuur), Vinny Jones (lichtwetenschappen), Dave Balle (bodemecologie/vruchtbaarheid), Mathias Velle (outside eye/dramaturg), Mark Pozlep (kunstenaar, videograaf). Samen richten zij zich op het vinden van gemeenschappelijke instrumenten en strategieën om te herstellen, te verzachten en te herstellen.

Zij vormen het LAB for the research of Sacrifice zones. En we stellen een site-responsieve artistieke interventie op locatie voor, in de vorm van workshops over rechten van de natuur, klimaatverdriet en aardcontracten. Voor elk studie-object zullen ze een protocol ontwikkelen voor de gemeenschap, zowel menselijk als meer dan menselijk. Ze zullen een proces van herstel ontwerpen op plaatsen die zijn aangetast door milieumisdaden of klimaatverandering.

Hun eerste studiecase van ecocide zal de Zenne zijn, een symbolische start in het hart van Europa. Als methodologie zullen ze onderzoek doen naar de impact van het doden van deze rivier op een voorouderlijk en kosmologisch niveau, maar ook op de gezondheid van gemeenschappen langs de rivier, zowel menselijke als meer dan menselijke. De droom is om de Zenne rivier wettelijk te erkennen als een entiteit.

How can artistic practices reclaim an ecology of repair, and creatively design protocols with a regenerative approach to the loss of landscapes? Do we need other ways of justice, environmental laws and reparative actions? What kind of artistic processes do we need as a gesture of care for the planetary? How are transdisciplinary alliances a response to ecocide?

Natural contract Lab is a new service focused on Sacrifice zones- environmental crimes- ecocide. We propose a site-responsive artistic intervention Laboratory on location, that will be in the format of workshops on rights of nature, climate grief and earth contracts. For each study case, we will develop a protocol of repair on sites that have been affected by environmental crimes for the community, both human and more than human. As a methodology, we will be researching the impact of ecocide on bodies of water such as rivers and as well tackle the entanglement of ancestral, cosmological and colonial impact of ecocide. Together we focus on finding common tools and strategies to recover, mitigate and restore.
